    One of the most unique fantasy worlds I've ever had the honor to step into, and I've bought at least two of each of the trilogy in the past. I went out of my way to find this older cover which is no longer in print simply because it's prettier than the Lamplighter versions (my humble opinion)

    The whole series is fantastic. The amount of detail put into the description of this world is equalled only in Harry Potter. Everyone who enjoys fantasy, steam punk, fighting, moral ambiguity, and orphans will love this. :)

  • Fantasy and reality mix

    This book is the sequel in the Monster Blood Tattoo series. In both books you find a language of its own in which the reader must try to remember all the different meanings. There is a glossary printed at the end as well as a multitude of other helpful information and drawings. I particularly liked the story in this book because it shows the main character as having many issues as modern day teenagers such as growing up in a less than hospitable environment, dealing with unkind people and the trials that life brings even in a fantasy world. There is some gory bits because after all it is a world filled with monsters and violence. The first book is more about the journey of finally traveling outside into the world whereas the second book is more about learning who you really are. It ...
