"I have a question for you," he said. "Why do gringo journalists always want to come here to Sinaloa to ask about drugs?" You'd think I would have had a ready answer for this. It was my second trip to Culiacán, and I'd been working on the same story now for more than six months. But what he said gave me pause. Why did U.S. journalists come here? Why was I here?
