    The item delivered was new in the original package. But when I opened it, the battery inside had failed and damaged the unit so that it would not work. I filed a claim to return the item and my money was returned to me. Thank you. However, I didn’t receive any communication from the seller and only got communication through Ebay. I am disappointed in that.

Both of these arrived in great shape; in one, the batteries still held charge and worked as soon as turned on. Have used these for a while. As others and the package note, it works best in one spot. May not work well out hiking; it seems to need time to form a "cloud" of repellent around the wearer.
