A little gem
You remember that hard-bitten gamekeeper in Jurassic Park? Well, that wasn't his first big role, nor even his best (my personal favourite was "After Pilkington", but enough of that). Here he shines in a nicely understated performance as a genteel fugitive with a bit of a secret. Look out for Mark Hamill here too - back when he hadn't given up trying to shake off the ghost of Luke Skywalker by taking tough bad-guy roles. Oh, and you know Bill Paxton from Apollo 13? This was back when he was still working the beefcake circuit - or should that be cheesecake? Throw in a fun Mad Max style post-apocalyptic story and some nice flying sequences and this one becomes very watchable. Slipstream is a typical 80's / 90's B Movie Sci-Fi-I expected this...But printed on the DVD disc was the date 1988! (even though the write up says 'Release date 2004'-do not be fooled!!-the quality of the film visuals are quite poor,and it shows. This is such a shame,as much of the aerial filming,detailed close up images,scenic shots and the sound quality would be great if clearer,or in HD.
