  • Informative and very readable account of a lost industry

Very good account of the iron ore industry in Rutland before it was closed down nearly 50 years ago now. Well written, informative and excellent resource for railway modellers like myself or indeed anyone interested in this fascinating industrial history, which is hard to believe ever existed, as the area mined has completely returned to countryside and agricultural land use. I purchased this book because I had been to the Rocks and Rail museum and wanted to know more about the industry and its effect on the local economy, the equipment used and how the industry operated. Highly recommended.
