      One of the Best Sports Movies

      One of my favorites in the "sports movie" genre. And yet it's so much more. The depiction of rural life, the small town school and of course basketball, are all so engagingly portrayed that you are quickly pulled into the story. You will root for the Huskers with all your might. Gene Hackman's performance is outstanding, as is Barbara Hershey's. But I really enjoyed Dennis Hopper's "Shooter" character. I think he truly deserved the Best Supporting Actor award for which he was nominated, but unfortunately did not win. The Blu-ray DVD has some wonderful extras about the real life team that inspired this story. And it has some great deleted scenes, which really should have stayed in the movie, especially the scene that explained how Buddy rejoined the team. Hoping that they will reissue a ...

      Great classic film!

      This movie reminds me of my high school days; Friday night basketball games, small town politics, & the feeling of winning a game. Of course im from indiana so i could be bias but this movie is spot on. Decent acting, simple plot..but still pretty riveting. Check it out if youve never watched it, better than alot of stuff they make these days. The original game is in the bonus features- neat.
