  • Most favourable review

Reliable product and a reliable finish.

Using it in warm weather is good, but you need to be careful about getting any runs before it dries. Used it before and it is still as good as ever. Beautiful finish.

  • Most critical review

    Too fussy.

In spite of religiously following the instructions every one of 5 coats I have applied so far to my guitar have broken out in a horrible wrinkly uneven surface. Wait 4 days, rub it right down again, reapply, still happens. It has destroyed all my hard work so far, I am so dissappointed.

  • Super Product

I have been using Rustin's Clear Plastic Coating since I discovered it in the mid 1960s for various woodworking projects and have always found it to be an excellent easy to use product. The coating is touch-dry in around two hours, and once fully hardened after some 24 hrs, is resistant to alcohol, and heat. The first time I used it, I tested it by putting a lot of hot tea directly onto the surface which left no mark whatsoever. I have recently re-polished a pair of bedside cabinets with it after they became very scratched over the years. They look like new again.

  • easy to apply, excellent super-tough finish

plastic clear coat is all i use for guitar finishing. is easy enough to mix and apply (use holdehold sponge cut into 2" squares) and i always look forward to the final polish with burnishing cream.

  • Top quality polish

Excellent polish that leaves a high hard wearing gloss, expensive but you get what you pay for. The down side for the amateur is mixing only enough to complete a job, any left over can be stored for a short time in a sealed container but not the same as shellac, also if any left over is to be stored make sure to have the thinners to clean out the brush or throw the brush away.
