In Brave Story: New Traveler, you are an 11-year-old with an unconscious friend named Miki. After trying unsuccessfully to wake Miki you are transported to the world of Vision. Here, you must begin life as a "traveler" and work through many ordeals to meet with the Goddess of Fortune. As you adventure through the game, you can meet other characters and add them to your party. Getting to know each of these avatars opens up cooperative battle skills that are useful when facing an enemy three times your size. <br><br>Combat sequences are played out in a turn-based format that is designed to emphasize the ideals of bravery, growth, and friendship. Attacking enemies builds up the "brave power" meter that indicates your current courage level. When it is full you can perform a special attack. During your journey you can find special gems and birds hidden in each location. The gems can be used to create or modify weapons, and the birds are used in mini-games or traded for rare items. By connecting to a wireless network, you can trade birds with friends or compete with them in a mini-game.

RPG Old School Awsomeness Ready For the Picking!
I will say it. I enjoy old school cliches. Generic RPG style, give me stats, give me skills & combo skills by leveling or participating in battles...makes me a happy camper...and you'll more and likely win me over. I dislike complication. Old(er) gamers are aware of what made there staple rpgs back in the 80's and 90's a now steaming pile of *censorship* in many of today's games. I personally have never been to an AA or an NA meeting, but I do know they really enjoy K.I.S.S (no, not the Band from the 80's...although there might be a connection there...hmmm)...anyways, K(eep). I(t). S(imple). S(tupid). I don't need to be reminded by others, (game makers) on how [conceptionally/physically/meta-physically] horrific/divinely/normal/subnormal/abnormal my personal ... I like childlike simplicity/naivity to the sickening nth degree. And this is what Brave Story seems to do at least thru most of the game. I like the child like mannerisms/mentality, which is cliche to a T, but hey, I'm trully in it for the stats, the battle mechanics of involving character skills and character sequences in battle...as a means not to get too heavily engrossed into characters and plots that start to outway what the gamer spends the most time on (and that being the battling system...not dialogue). As a single player (offline)/(disconnected from "others"), I've really intuitively grown to understand (or at least come to terms with) the AI function of characters in games that put on a good show for said audience. Characters in Brave Story can diversely approach battles uniquely enough to differentiate each other as separate entities and not as hero clones with different sprites as some other games try to pass off onto gamers (whether the gaming company is aware of this or not). I'm not finished with Brave Story yet (Lv.50, just finished battle in cathedral basement), but I have not sincerely enjoyed any rpg this much continously thru the whole process than this one. I enjoy the menu systems: *Main/current quest can be brought up by clicking the R1 button. Nice feature. *Keeps track of quests. *Keeps track of accessory inventions and the ingredients used to make said items. *Keeps track of monsters and spoils (dropped/stolen/obtained-by-craze'ing-said-enemy). Would have been nice to show how a monster is crazed if you've done it already...and it can be tedious to remember exactly how each monster was crazed. Perhaps even hints would have been nice as to what it would take to craze a monster. (I had to use Gamefaqs to help me). *Shows stats/equipment/skills of all characters...and can scroll thru them rather easily. *I like that each character gets unique skills. *I like that each character gets a unique passive skill...such as Melanda's passive Just Rewards skill. *I like that it takes time investment in the game by using different arrangements of characters in active battles to initate special combo bravery skills to be used that can only be learned by involving characters in many battles. *I do like the alchemy system. *I like the goalfinch (the birdies) system. Although, the trading system I found to be bleh. Didn't want to trade in my rare birds for equipment that gets outdated eventually anyways. Forgive me...or yourself for reading this/(my reviews/opinions). Just unleashing my unwanton thoughts amongst the populaces wavering eyes. :)

Excellent RPG for the PSP
This is one of the better games I have played for the PSP. Your character travels into a fantasy world with catgirls and lizardmen and sets out to get your wish for a dying friend granted in an RPG format. As you meet new characters who join you on your quest, your sword grows in power and your Bravura skills increase in strength and number. So far, I have noticed that a lot of extra leveling isn't necessary to advance in the story. Also, characters who are not currently in the party (maxed at only three)gain experience at only a slightly lower rate than those in the party. This means that you don't have to do a lot of extra leveling in the game, if you don't want to. Oh, and did I mention catgirls? All in all a very good RPG for the platform.This is one of the better games I have played for the PSP. You should try it!
Brave story has good graphics, a more than decent storyline with characters you'll be sure to at least appreciate and music which won't get on your nerves in the first 10 minutes. Theres a lot of dialogue so if you don't like that this may be a bit difficult for you to handle. But if you can it'll add to the game rather than detract. So pay attention because not knowing where you're going will mean alot of walking! In the end its great value for money and defintely worth at least giving a shot. Great Game
I bought this game today and it's amazing. I really enjoyed the anime movie that the game was based on and the game was just as amazing. I was impressed with the 3D graphics, the storyline, and the music. It seemed to follow the animated movie perfectly. I would highly recommend this game to any psp owner that is looking for a change in pace in their rpg games. The only complaint I have is I wish there was more voice-acting for the game. There were some parts of the game that had a voiceover but the main storyline points needed to have some voiceovers to make the game more interesting and aesthetic.I bought this game today and it's amazing. I really enjoyed the anime movie that the game was based on and the game was just as amazing. I was impressed with the 3D graphics, the storyline, and the music. It seemed to follow the animated movie perfectly. I would highly recommend this game to any psp owner that is looking for a change in pace in their rpg games. The only complaint I have is I wish there was more voice-acting for the game.
