Pros: This is a SOLID card! its based off the 8800 core and keeps up with almoast all modern games. If your looking for a relible preforming video card this is your pick! You can only get them used now adays but they are worth the hastle. Cons: Unfortunataly the 9800 GTX series cards have one flaw that was never fixed. It has a faulty fan controler. If left unchecked the card will develop temp issues and heat damage. This is easily fixed by using a program such as EVGA precision and setting the fan speed to 100% for what its worth tho all the 9800 gtx manufactuers had this issue! After market cooling or fan controling software will ensure long life. Another small con is simply that the manufactuers of thease cards are no longer able to replace them. supply is gone. Companies like XFX will send you an ati card if you RMA. SO dont even bother with warantees. Other thaughts: The stock cooling for thease cards is more then sufficent with max fan settings, under load my xfx and evga 9800 gtx cards operate between 46c and 52c. Also THIS CARD IS BIG, ensure you have a nice case to acomidate. I used the Antec 300 series and never had an issue with fitment or airflow to the card. Average life span of thease cards without proper cooling or fan regulation is between 2-3 years. Properly maintained and cooled 9800 gtx cards will last much longer. I own both brands of EVGA and XFX 9800 GTX cards. Another thing to consider. EVGA uses the same construction and same cooling ducting as XFX, but uses a much more robust fan.Read full review
I bought this item to replace a a card of the same model, but slightly different specs. My original card was not performing like it used to and I only wanted to replace it with an equal so as not to push the other older components too hard. As soon as I popped this in, it was like a brand new computer. So good to have a reliable card again. Very good value for money and arrived much sooner than I expected.

Great performance, noisy fan. Offers great performance on its own or when paired with a twin in SLI mode. For those of you considering SLI in the future, don't waste your money. I only did it because I got a second card on the cheap and curiosity overwhelmed me. Although the fan is noisy, it does a great job of keeping the card cool, especially when using a fan profile. The fans becomes noticeable above 40% speed and very loud at full tilt. Guess that's the tradeoff between cooling and noise pollution. At 30%, the stock front fans in my 400R case are heard over the car fan. Temps are tolerable, especially for SLI, with the top card temps ranging from 40C idle to 56C load with 22-24C room temperature.
As stated this is an older, lightweight card that I installed in an older desktop to improve on the video output as opposed to the integrated video support. It will not function as a high performance gaming card, but I did not expect it to. It serves the purpose at a good price. I am satisfied.

i bought the 9800gtx for its pure power. this is one powerful card. it will play any game out there. the card is also great for sli or 3 way sli. the drawback is theses cards are huge. do your case should be large. also they take 2 power connectors per card. so they draw alot of power. so make sure your power supply is big enough. 500 watt should do it if you plan to use sli.
