Peter Kosminsky is the successful Director of "The Promise" and also the more recent "Wolf Hall" We are of the generation that lived through "The Holocaust" and the gas chambers and concentration camps of Nazi Europe in World War II. We have given rather unconditional support to Jewish people and their new homeland and a "never again" approach to genocide. A younger member of our family, who is a Jeremy Corbyn supporter, was more concerned about the persecution of Palestinian people by Israel "The Promise aroused great controversy when its four 100-minute episodes were aired on Channel 4 in February 2011. Great series.
One of the best short series ever made by channel 4. Impossible to buy new anymore. So good I've bought copies for friends. Characters are really engaging. Though the characters are fictional the main events are true and shows how the nation of Israel was formed. The good and bad.

Excellent film
A very l9ng but enlightening film about the time the jews were shipped to Palastine after world war 2. But with lovely story in between of a young British soldier whose grandaighter read his diary during his old age and went to Palastine to return a key to a muslim family.
