An excellent choice for the budget conscious.

As an owner of a d3300 ( which is great) I decided to go for the d7000 for it's advanced features and it's ability to utilise older Nikon lenses. I have to honestly say since picking the d7000 up the day it arrived, it has barely left my hand and the d3300 has barely had a look in. The feel and build quality is great compared to the d3300 and it is so much better having all the designated buttons for maximum control. If you're worried about megapixels, don't. The d7000 performs just as well as the 24.2mp d3300, and unless you're planning to print huge poster size prints (in which case I doubt your even considering this camera) it performs really well, producing beautiful, crisp shots. A great place to go for the beginner who has outgrown his/her entry level DSLR.

  • Great camera even if bought with 10000 actuations

I was bought the d7000 when asked by my cousin to be her wedding photographer. The plan was to buy my next camera, use it with my current d5000 as a backup, then sell the d5000. At first, I wanted to buy a smaller, more recent camera than the d5000 so looked at the d3400. Somehow, I ended up buying a well used d7000 for £270, stretching the budget. I am delighted with having gone for the d7000 instead. First, it feels great, and I love having all the controls at my fingertips. It reminds me of the f80 I first used to take wedding pictures 15 years ago. I found that enjoy my photography again, something I had never felt with the d5000 than I bought when my children were born as I sold my heavier, bulkier cameras and collection of lenses for something smaller I could take along with all the ...

  • Best camera/image quality from a crop sensor, if you want more you need FF.

The best crop camera available all things considered, although it has very tough competition from the Pentax K5 which best's it in a few areas, but I give the D7k the edge due to AF and the quality of Nikons overall system, Lenses, Flashes, Pocket Wizards Etc. I suppose the Canon 7D is also a competitor, although this camera more expensive, it doesn't measure up favourably to the D7K. Canon 7D suffers from soft images due to overly strong AA filter (550D's etc don't suffer from this) and doesn't have anywhere near the usable dynamic range in the shadows as the Canon sensor suffer from cross-hatching patterns if you really lift the shadows. The Canon does however have more FPS (8fps) and a larger buffer, as well as a faster CF memory slot, which sports photographers may be able to make use ...

  • magnificent DSLR with many features

A superb Nikon DSLR. To fully grasp all the features and capabilities will take time, but the auto settings enable immediate use. A solid, well built camera, that will last many years. I use the D7000 For Dummies guide which is guiding me through all the features of this magnificent DSLR
