    Hewlett Packard HP12c - THE finance professional's calc

    I'm an accountant of some 20 years standing. Most of my work involves the financing of capital equipment. I bought this calculator despite the fact that I already own one, I forgot to bring it with me but I found that I simply could not do without it. I do a lot of TVM (Time value of money) calculations centering around the cost of leasing of plant or the CIP capitalisation and yes it would be easier to do this work using Excel on a PC but who wants to fire a a laptop in the middle of a meeting just to do few calculations. This calculator does such calculations in the time it would take Windows to start up on most PC's. Other things I like about it: It is really accurate, the internal implememtation of the formulae for the built in functions such as discounted cash flows and modified rate ...

    An reaquaintance with an old friend. Quality at a reasonable price.

    I have been taking financial exams again recently and remembered the first time I did them 25 years ago a friend lent me his calculator, it was a HP12c. I passed them then, so I thought I would like an old friend on my side this time. As it happens I couldn`t use it in an exam at this level, but the study and tutorials for this calculator opened things up for me, and I got into the right frame of mind whilst revising and passed again. It is now a new hobby, finding out just how much it can do. I like the fact it is a bit retro, although it looks better on its age than I do. I love it now as I did then. I couldn`t afford one then, but now I have one all of my own!
