Well, I have 3 other lenses in a similar focal range already, (including the Nikkor 16-85) but was looking for something even better. No zoom of such a wide range can be perfect, but this one gets really close. What's more, it exhibits that lovely micro-contrast 3-D pop that is difficult to get from most 8+ lens element lenses due to internal diffraction. Somehow, Sigma managed to find a solution. It's not "knock-your socks off" apparent, but it's certainly there. My only complaint is that it will have somewhat different fine focus levels between super close-up and 20-30 feet. and then, to a lesser degree at infinity. However my old 80-200 f2.8 Nikkor exhibited that to an even greater degree. Mind you this is all at maximum aperture and the issue becomes moot stopped down 2-3 stops. The lens is built like a tank, although the sharp corner coming off the lens barrel angling down to the lens mount tends to lose its black coating rather quickly. The feel of the zoom and focus are silky smooth, reminiscent of the fine Zeiss and Leica lenses. It is a perfect compliment to the heavier full-frame cameras and certain to please, as long as you are not looking for prime lens perfection across the entire zoom range.Read full review

I love that sigma lenses have a usb connection system to refocus should they require it. This focal length just fits my needs. 24 - 105mm is a wide range, and the lens is lighter weight than the Nikon counter part. the F4 is fast enough and it is sharp wide open. some lenses have to be stopped down to f /8 to have sharp pictures. the manual focus is easy to use and I can turn off and on the stabilizer when I want. It just fits my hand and work habits.

This is a great walk-around lens. The range of 24-105mm is very useful. It focuses fast and the constant f/4 lets plenty of light through the lens. It has a little bit of heft to it, but it isn't unbearable. The lens is quite large at 82mm, so a polarizer may cost you a little bit more. The lens feels very sturdy. I expect to use it a lot.

I suppose that I was spoiled by the original ART lens (the 35mm prime). Not that this zoom is bad. On the contrary, for a zoom lens, it is much sharper than most. It seems at its sharpest at its 105mm setting. And, it can be sharpened considerably in post processing. But, don't expect it to be as sharp as the Sigma primes. There is a very subtle but, it ism there. I doubt that anyone will noticed it, however. As such, it makes for the perfect walk around lens; especially since the focal range it very versatile. Like all of Sigma's lenses, it could really use weather sealing gaskets to keep out the dust and moisture. So, you will need to be careful with it, protecting it in windy or rainy conditions.

This lens is very sharp and looks like it is well built. It feels to be top quality and gives excellent results, Only one little downside as far as I am concerned... it is heavy to carry around but then I suppose this is caused by the quality materials used to make it so solid and durable.

This is the second , SIGMA 24-105 lens for my studio. I use this lens as my walk around lens. It is also a great focal for an all around wedding lens. I have been using the lens on a Nikon D-750 body and I am very impressed with the quality of workmanship on all the new (ART) lenses from Sigma. Just the perfect lens...

I will say that the low light focusing performance surprised me a little (in a good way) and locks on consistently in low light. Also, the focus speed seems to be plenty fast enough for most action shooting. It feels nice, solid and well built. It's a bit heavy but, balances nicely on the 800 and not bad at all on the 7100. Esthetics may not be quite as nice as the Nikons with the pretty gold. The zoom and focus rings feel very nice and smooth, with just the right amount of resistance for me. The focus ring is sort of narrow but, that doesn't seem to be an issue, at least at this point. I haven't had a lot of time to really test IQ but, I expect it to be just as excellent as my other Sigma lenses.
This lens is incredible. Its very sharp, fast and also very heavy which is fine with me, it allows me to be more steady.
