    Enlightenment, Historical & Entertainment

    If you saw or read Alex Haley's Roots; this is a solid educational centerpiece belonging in every home's video. Character portrayals coupled with stellar performances warrants industry recognition. I especially love the episode where Harriet Tubman speaks to the abolitionists. Reminded me of the late great orators: Martin Luther King Jr and Adam Clayton Powell.

    Unauthentic depiction of this era.

    I found myself asking “what is going on” numerous times. The plot is hard to follow and many scenes leave you in the dark, literally. I could not tell what was going on. I disliked the use of rap music in an era piece. Acting was good, but story line was all over the place.
