I love the humor of Houseguest. Wonderful actors really make this one. It is really crazy and funny. Things you would like to do when you see a parking space but would never do for one. It is kind of base humor but you can not help loving it.

Sadly this movie was disappointing, unengaging and a real yawn. Too bad for one of Phil Hartman’s final performances. Don’t waste your time or money on this. I absolutely love a good comedy and this one leaves you waiting to laugh. Lots of good actors in which their talents could have been utilized much better. I gave it two stars. One star was because I had to give a star and the other was because I loved Phil Hartman I’m at 4,671 letter images to use, but for the life of me I can’t think of anything else to say other than what I have above

Sinbad offers some unusual advice on how to make friends in this wacky comedy. Kevin Franklin (Sinbad) is a guy who dreams of starting his own business. However, getting it off the ground is another matter altogether, and soon Kevin discovers that the two loan sharks who fronted him money want to be paid, and paid promptly, otherwise Kevin will be spending some time in the hospital. On the run through an airport, Kevin is trying to find a way out when he overhears Gary Young (Phil Hartman) wondering where his friend is. It seems that Gary has arranged a reunion with an old friend from childhood, but since he hasn't seen him in 25 years, he has no idea what he looks like today, beyond the fact that he's black. Kevin fits the bill that far and claims to be Gary's long lost buddy, which Gary buys hook, line, and sinker. Gary seems to enjoy bonding with his old friend, and Kevin likes staying at Gary's fine home (and raiding his large icebox), but Kevin discovers that impersonating a stranger is a lot more complicated than he expected after he's forced to perform oral surgery and give a speech at a grade school "Career Day" presentation. However, this is all small potatoes on the "oh, no" scale when the loan sharks track Kevin back to Gary's home in the suburbs.Read full review
Everything about this movie is hilarious. Derek Bond DDS, Kevin Franklin, Gary Young, Paulie, Joey, Steve (I mean ST3), Larry, Mr and Mrs. Pike, Happy... All Brilliant characters. This is my personal favorite of all time. Phil Hartman and Sinbad are a hilarious comedy duo (also starring in Jingle All the Way together). Here are just a few little scenes that make it memorable: advertisement[Kevin checking the contents of 'his suit bag'] Kevin: All right let's see what we've got... I don't care if it don't look good, just fit... [noticing the 'GFH' initials on the suit] Kevin: GFH? [he looks further and he found the brand tag] Kevin: Groverton Funeral Home? I'm dead... I'm *dead*... [guests wondering what 'GFH' stands for at Kevin's suit] 1st Guest: What is that stand for? Kevin: My great-grandfather, General Francois Heimlich Manuever, World War 1 and 2 1st Guest: Good guy. 2nd Guest: What does it stand for? Kevin: Gemstones Furs, and Haberdasheries. [to 3rd guest] Kevin: Graduated, Full Honors, Oxford. I guess you wouldn't know about that. 3rd Guest: I went to Harvard Kevin: Yeah, Harvard *Street* [to a Priest] Kevin: Oh, It's a gospel group I was with, Godliness, Faithful and Honest Priest: Ah, amen. Kevin: [to other guests] Geeks For Hire,a temporary service. You'd fit it, you ought to call us. Gas From Humans... Girls From the Hood... G-strings For the Huge... Gotta Feed the Hungry... Girls Feeding Homies Waitress: It's that a joke? Kevin: [to a female guest] Good, Fine and Healthy and baby, you're it. *BAM!* You know what I'm saying? [female guest leaves Kevin] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [after stumbling on Jason's skateboard] Gary Young: Jason, how many times have I told you to pick that damn thing up? A lot, I think. Probably several, maybe. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Kevin's shipment of baseball cards come in] Kevin Franklin: The entire 1994 baseball season, know what I'm saying? I got Ken Griffey Jr. here, Barry Bonds, Jose Canseco. People spend big money for baseball cards, but if they get hurt, it's even worth more money! Say one of them's going to the car after the game, gets hit - pow! I don't wanna see it happen, but if it does, I'm getting paid! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mr. Pike: Slap me five there, brother! Kevin Franklin: How about I just slap you? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joey Gasperini: WHERE'S THE DOUGH? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kevin: If you drive away, I'll be standing here pointing! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pauly Gasperini: [hangs up phone] Happy's not happy. Joey Gasperini: Who is he, then? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kevin: That looks good. Can I try some? Gary Young: Sure. Go ahead. [Kevin tries the dip and reacts in disgust] Kevin: Oh! What is that? Rosie the Caterer: Puree of parsnip and crook-neck squash. Kevin: I thought it was nacho cheese.Read full review
