When two boys (Vidal Peterson and Shawn Carson) become involved in the evil plans of Mr. Dark, a magical carnival owner (Jonathan Pryce), they find themselves in danger and responsible for the survival of their entire town! Mr. Dark has a devilish ability to grant wishes, which he uses to his advantage. When he realizes that the boys have discovered his secret, he sets about tracking them down, along with the creepy Dust Witch (Pam Grier). This spooky Ray Bradbury story is enhanced by the wonderful cast performances, particularly those of Jonathan Pryce and Pam Grier, who are scary enough to stop anyone from hoping for a wish come true!

    Older Edition Package of a Great Movie in Great Condition

    "Something Wicked This Way Comes" is my absolute favorite movie and book. I've always liked the original movie cover art better than the one Disney currently has. Moreover, I wanted an older edition of the film; this product is exactly what I was looking for. I love the interior too - inside is a disc (on which is Mr. Dark from the famous scene) and a glossy card that is basically the original movie poster (with the different scenes or "chapters" listed on the back). I could not be happier with it, and this item is something I will be holding on to for a long time. I should also mention that the disc was in very great condition, which is also great. The movie plays smoothly without any problems. A side not: Jason Robards and Jonathan Pryce are brilliant in this film.

    Jason Robards in peak form

    Based on a Ray Bradbury novel (by the way, I DO recommend that as well) the special effects and absolutely creepy, menancing atmosphere in this one will have children shivering. I would NOT recommend this for younger children and I have to admit that it even creeped me out a little (but in a GOOD way). Basically, a carnival comes to town, filled with sinister characters and the carnival, which seems to appealing, is just a cover for a deeper, darker evil. The two young boys in this film are excellent and Robards is perfect as a man who recognizes the evil and is seriously affected by it. I don't want to give too much away here. Preview it first and then share it with kids who you think can handle it. It raises issues about life's meaning, good and evil and more. This isn't a typical scary ...

    Something Wicked This Way Comes

    This movie was even better than I'd remembered. From the very beginning the narrative captivated me as the man spoke of the past,the tranquil town he lived in and his childhood friend. It was a peaceful community that evoked nostalgia for small town America when everyone knew each other. The tale is thrilling without theatrics of blood and gore. The acting is natural, and the characters are subject to the foibles of being human. I've already loaned this to several friends who never saw the film before and they thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it has universal appeal, and two great well-known actors with starring rolls are the icing on the cake of this Bradbury story. Don't judge a book by its movie? This makes me want to read the book.

    Chilling!

    This is one of those movies that you think about long after watching it. It tells of hopes and dreams, delusions and the darkness of the human heart. The two young boys are thrown into a whirlwind after witnessing things that can't possible be real. And Mr. Dark's character is pure evil, but also fascinating to watch. His voice is so soothing and tempting!(the actor plays Elizabeth Swan's father in Pirates of the Caribbean, of course he's several years younger in this!). With the help of one of their fathers they set about to destroy the evil that's come to their town in the disguise of a carnival. A very moving, touching story. I highly recommend watching it and I bet you can't watch it just once! CAT

    builds suspense

    good movie. just scary enough for my 9 year old grandson to watch. Disney did a very good job with this project
