Entertaining and sweet!
Made by Patlabor and Birdy the Mighty creator Masami Yuuki, Assemble Insert is one of Yuuki's strangest but most entertaining short creations. Aside from the sometimes bizarre cultural references, AI is a lot of fun to watch, especially to see a rather believable young anime heroine fighting crime. Also worth mentioning is the great Norio Wakamoto's vocal work as beaten-down Chief Hattori. I first saw AI in 10th grade after buying a cheap copy of the original release, but the purple 2003 group shot copy is the best way to go...it comes with a booklet of liner notes (which you'll absolutely need here) and song lyrics, and has overall been remastered.
