Puck was the first successful humor magazine in the United States consisting of political satire expressed in colorful cartoons and caricatures that focused on the major, mostly political, issues of the day. It was published from 1871 until 1918. Puck was quite popular in its day, and is very popular among political cartoon collectors today. This series of PUCK cartoons are clever, beautifully illustrated and provide an historical picture of the state of politics in 1881. TEXT: THE PENSION SWINDLE. CONDITION: EXCELLENT / FINE — Clear, clean, very colorful and bright; no foxing, creasing, tears or folds (other than the centerfold), and very good margins, perfect for framing. A really beautiful image. Nice dark lines and definition. NO HOLES IN CENTERFOLD.”
