Streaming experience improved beyond expectations
Every review which says easy set up is true. Roku seem to have thought of everything, even for our old, not smart at all tv! Intuitive to use even for my other half who still struggles with a laptop. Even logging in to all our streaming apps was simple. Streamlined interface and remote controls, nothing there to mind boggle anyone. The plus was that it even improved the quality of the picture, as well as the sound which was expected with that great sound box. Excellent value, great sound enhancement
This boosted the awful sound coming out of the back of my 34" Samsung telly to an excellent level. Voices are now clear, music has some good bass welly. It's what the telly should have come with - telly with welly. It won't be adequate for a mega room with a wall-sized screen - as you'd expect for this money - but for a smaller room, smaller TV it's amazing value. And the streaming side works well too - much more reliable than my AirPlay speaker for playing music from my iPhone. We don't use the TV Apps though - all we want are on the telly.This boosted the awful sound coming out of the back of my 34" Samsung telly to an excellent level. Not suitable for all older TVs
I don’t have an ARC hdmi socket but it appeared I could use the SPFID out from the TV, convert it to optical with a CYP AU-D2 converter, and it would be fine. And it is fine - if I am using the Roku player. But I can’t turn off my TV speakers via the TV menu (and setting the speaker volume to zero, or plugging in some headphones doesn’t ‘trick’ the TV either), so the sound bar part won’t work with my TV, or with my Humax recorder. If I had bought separates - Roku player and sound bar it would have worked. Bit pointless buying a sound bar for your TV which doesn’t actually give your TV any sound.
