Reviews
5 out of 5 - "Led by Josh Homme, possessor of the classiest falsetto and most distinct guitar tone in rock, the Queens have done it again...", 4 Stars Out of 5-"Fresh, Strange and Exciting.", "Hammer of the Gods-heavy, this is an album many hard-rock fans would willingly risk deafness to hear cranked up loud..." - Grade: B, Ranked #9 in Magnet's "The 20 Best Albums Of 2005" - "The piston-precise rhythms and bull-god guitars power everything from witchy metal stomps...to scorned-dude sex laments...", 4 stars out of 5 - "It's intimate, multi-layered and uplifting. The sound of one of rock's most insidious songwriters drawing breath.", "An eclectic, rippin' record....The sexy glam stomps, clipped speed-riffs, and sludgy space-jams are still in effect and plenty hot." - Grade: B

  • Great album!

Great album from this band! Specially this edition with the DVD! I really like the songs and the DVD with some videoclips of the songs and the making of make it even more valuable.

  • Lullabies to Paralyze? Well worth it for this CD.

Having been a long-standing Queens of the Stone Age fan, I've recently set about finding as much limited-edition paraphernalia as I can. This CD of an excellent album, including a bonus DVD, seemed a great place to start. As an added bonus (no pun intended), you get a couple of extra tracks that aren't on the peasants' version of Lullabies to Paralyze. The album is described by Josh Homme as being a 'night' album, something that should be listened to after midnight, and he's not wrong. However, it is also the most accessible Queens album to date, without being overly commercial or retreading old Queens ground uselessly. Whereas Rated R was raw, vicious and psychedelic in equal measure, Lullabies to Paralyze is sleazy, gentle, and disturbing. Lyrical figures include fictional (or are ...

  • Great Rock band- Good follow up album.

I just happened to see this band in July when i went to see Foo Fighters in Hyde Park. I'd heard some of the first album before but hadn't really paid any attention until i saw them live. Following that, i brought 'The Songs for the Deaf'.. absolutely brillant album.. a must have for any serious Rock music fans. After i managed to wear that cd out, i looked on here for a copy of 'Lullabies to Paralyze'.. minus guitarist Nick Oliveri.. still good stuff.. slightly different sound i didn't immidiately warm to.. but i kept playing it and haven't been able to stop playing since!! Track 1.. a strange start to an album i must admit..Sounds a bit like Johnny Cash!! Best track i think is the last one-bonus track- Precious and Grace..Perhaps this one should of been close to the beginning! Album ...

  • Awesome Album - Stil one of the best albums EVER ..IMHO

OK, I admit it. I'm biased. QOTSA is one of my favourite bands of all time. This album moves away from the heavy rock vibe of "Songs from the deaf". Lullabies is a more brooding, menacing afair. Especcially when you take 2 of my fav tracks "The Blood is Love" & "Someones in the Wolf". You still get the more lighter "pop" friendly tunes such as "Little Sister" and "In My Head" in which the last one itself will have you tapping your foot and nodding your head in appreciation !!!. The album delivers a great overall sonic delight with catchy riffs, great drumlines and rememberable lyrics. The DVD itself contains some interesting features including some great behind the scenes insight from the studio, which if your like me, an aspiring musician yourself, is great to watch !!!! .... Buy it, ...

  • Best QOTSA album!

This is the best Queens Of The Stone Age album. I personally think it's better than Songs For The Deaf "Everybody Knows That Your Insane" is in a league of its own, it's a brilliant song, as is Little Sister, In My Head and Medication, infact I don't think there's a bad song on the album!!
