A Truly Amazing Story about Sheer Determination

I have always admired Ian Hutchinson's achievements but until I read the book I had no idea about the extent of his injuries and yes. The title of the book is spot on. I just wish I knew how he is recovering from his crash at this year's TT

How to make road racing sound really boring!

Real road racing is the most exciting sport on the planet and Yet this book makes it sound as exciting as washing the car on a Sunday afternoon! I rate Ian Hutchinson very highly as a racer, he's also A nice guy, I've met him on several occaisions, and yes he had a very nasty accident at Silverstone that left him with a properly busted leg and this is just about all he has talked about since. Slightly self obsessive in my opinion I have met paraplegic ex soldiers that make less of a noise about their injuries than Hutchy does! Mick Doohan had both his legs stitched together for a protracted length of time to save one of them that was badly damaged in a crash yet you don't hear him bleating on about it every five minuites. It would have been a far better read if he had something interesting to say but he doesn't and that is a shame. If you really want to get a proper feeling for the racing scene then buy That Near Death Thing by Rick Broadbent. Now that's a book that's interesting and exciting!!!!

  • Brilliant read

I follow Hutchy at the TT so it was very interesting to read how he felt about everything that went on over the last 6/7 years with him. Certainly a miracle man to come back from what happened to him. A brilliant read.
