      great alternative to buying the entire cyclone assembly

      My original handle broke, so I was so happy to find this part instead of having to buy the entire cyclone assembly. The part fit my 13-year old Animal perfectly. It is tricky getting the rod into the bottom correctly so that you can open the flap to empty the canister, but the trick is to open the flap and keep it open while you install the part. This way you can put your hand in from the bottom to guide the rod into the hole. It is difficult to open the flap after you start taking it apart, so make sure to it beforehand. Also, seeing as my vacuum is vintage at this point, it was a dirty job, so you might want to do it outside, and if you're feeling up to it, hose off and clean the parts once you have it disassembled, which also means you might want to choose a nice sunny day so they'll ...

      Inferior plastic for DYSON replacement part.

      2 screw housings CRACKED immediately when I installed the unit. This has been my experience with ANY Dyson plastic vacuum part. Made from very brittle plastic. Dyson's are off my list. I will gladly purchase "less expensive" vacuums from now on. At least they don't disintegrate under normal use.

      Works great, rubber seal a bit thick but will fix your vacuum.

      This worked as an excellent replacement for the shattered one on our Dyson vacuum cleaner; my one lone complaint was that the rubber sealing ring on this was slightly thicker than the original, but I just swapped it with the "still good" original and it slid in fine and made an airtight seal. Be sure you have the star head screwdrivers/bits to get the old one off, and save the screws as this does not come with replacement screws.

      A Perfect Fit

      Aside from a tiny bit of flash that I had to trim with a sharp knife, so the bin release key would slide all the way up, and the supplied o-ring being slightly too thick (I reused the old one), this part fit perfectly. It's an adequate replacement, especially for the price and availability.

      Perfectly engineered - could use some better quality control

      Works great as a replacement and is engineered to exact specs. Manufacturing was a little shoddy. Had to use a utility knife to clean up some rough edges from the molding process that kept the latches from working properly.
