As a previous owner of the Foretrex 201 I was pleased to find the 301 improved on the only weak spots I'd identified of the earlier model: 1. It is very usefully quicker to pick up a signal, 2. it doesn't so easily lose the signal (e.g. under trees), and 3. the USB connection to my PC has made life a lot better using Anquet software. Otherwise, slightly heavier thanks to the removable AAA batteries but which have the advantage of an instant 'recharge' thro' exchange with spares - good for longer absences from a mains power supply.
Using foretrex 301 after my foretrex 101 died .great for what I need. Better then my old etrex with the big digits so you can just glens at it to get all the info you need . I prefer the AAA batteries then the rechargeable opt as I'm in control also when in the bush Recommend
fast sattalite conectivity, excellent reception, light weight, easy to use, good battery life, strap can be uncomfortable at times but it is better than the foretrex 101
