You're supposed to use this product to find metals at a distance but from what I can see, it is not much of a distance and that is without a layer of soil in between. Haven't used it actually on the job yet, so we will see. It's a great idea, if it works.

This felt like a good solid quality product to me. I've not taken it detecting yet but some simple testing suggests it is going to be very effective. It doesn't yammer out from feet away which would make it pointless - the range is a couple of inches or so with a penny which is ideal. A lager can triggers it from about 6 inches in air. A small piece of cooking foil didn't trigger it at all. I read a negative review where somebody said it stopped working after testing in a sink - the instructions clearly state that although it is shower proof it should not be submerged. It does actually look quite waterproof with a good washer seal on the battery compartment. At a fraction of the price of the market leader I decided to give it a try. I don't think I'll be disappointed

After watching some videos on best pointers for detecting i came across this,on the videos id seen it out performed the likes of the Garrett pointer and that cost around the £100/£150 mark. Its a great starting out tool, only little niggle for me is that it doesnt have a hole anywhere to attach a lanyard to it. Although does have plenty of room at the top to make one.
