Awesome reel
This is my first mini big pit reel. Firstly its not as big as expected,so that was good. The reel comes with 2 spools and six line reducers,but could not find reference to how much they reduced it by? Used it for the first time sunday and I am very impressed,cast easily and the quick drag is easy to use,but very new to me. It feels very solidly built and is typical shimano quality. Highly recommended for heavy feeder and light to medium carp fishing.This is my first mini big pit reel. Firstly its not as big as expected,so that was good. Received my Shimano 5500 mini big pit reel today, after numerous recommendations on various feeder fishing blogs. Upon taking out of the box, and having a full inspection and play, I Knew straight away, this reel oozes outstanding quality. Very smooth in operation, micro adjust drag, excellent finish, looks like a product costing 3 times the asking price. The spool spacers are a wonderful idea, and fit perfect. I have owned many reels, and this is the best by far. Can't wait to spool it with braid, and long cast for bream. Excellent long range casting reel. Shimano Ultegra Reel.
The Shimano 5500 reel is in my opinion a perfect, excellent quality fishing reel that can be used for most types of freshwater and light sea fishing, reminds me a lot of the old school Mitchell Match Reel which any older angler would tell you could cast light floats with ease due to the perfect line lay which the 5500 does feature. Would I recommend it? if like me you want something for all round course,Carp and some light pier fishing I would say go for it! My Rating 10/10.
