As with all the Adobe Classroom in a Book computer software guides, this one for Illustrator is exceptional. It is set up pretty much identically to the Photoshop book with the same series name. I like these books, in particular because they do have excellent tutorials that take you step-by-step through procedures that would be difficult without a guide as thorough as this series of books. The only difference to me, between these two guides, (Photoshop and Illustrator), is that the Illustrator book provides tutorials for projects that are not as interesting or attractive to me as the ones that were provided in the Photoshop book. This said, it is still a super book and really gets down to the nitty gritty of teaching a person how to work with Illustrator, which a still a program that is 'not for the timid!'Read full review
Adobe's series of Classroom in a Book editions are designed to aid users with the initial learning experience. Written by software developers with real-world expertise, they're an excellent resource for new and experienced users. This volume is recommended as a sold, basic introduction to Photoshop CS2. To be honest, I hadn't intended to purchase this CIB edition. I meant to get Adobe InDesign CS2 Classroom In a Book, but got this by mistake. if I ever decide to use Illustrator, it'll come in handy.
Whether this book is of value to you or not will depend on what you are looking for. As a beginner to using Illustrator, the book provides an excellent introduction to using the tools functionality. You will work through projects, building towards a final product, exploring the different tools offered along the way. However, if you are an experience Illustrator user, then this book will have little value. Experienced users to stick to using the Bible series for reference.
Clear directions with examples. Great book to accompany you in your study of Adobe Illustrator. Decide it to buy it since I already purchased the Adobe CS2 software and wanted a book that will clearly explain how to use the many possibilities of this great software.
I bought this book because I have a creative mind and my keenness for using Vector Graphics is growing. The book is easy to use and it covers everything used with Creative suite II There is no comparison with any other book.
