  • My life is now complete.

"The Barnaby Rudge,as you call it, was good value and in good condition, arriving very promptly. I bought it coz it was the only Dickens novel I'd never read and my life felt incomplete. It's sometimes more like reportage than narrative, quite an achievement coz he wasn't actually there,of course. Often grimly realistic but also could be very funny.Surprisingly sympathetic to Catholics, given Dickens'(later?) anti-Catholic views.
