Hides scratches and dents on old guitars with nitro-cellulose lacquer.
Old guitars with a nitro-cellulose lacquer finish tend to have light-coloured marks where the finish has been knocked or scratched. The lacquer has tiny fissures which refract light. Painting a small amount of cellulose thinners on the damaged area temporarily melts the lacquer and removes the micro-fissures. After leaving to dry, then buffing up, the damage will be much less apparent.
