"Paint by number" style instruction sans creativity.
This was a disappointment to me. I was hoping for less step by step patterns and more exercises in creative thinking. Although the patterns/ projects are challenging and very intricate they are simply "Do exactly as you see by using the patterns supplied." I taught pop up engineering at a high school level and know that there are books available which better promote creative think in this area. It's something like a "paint by number" pop up instruction book. If that's what you're looking for, you'll love it!This was a disappointment to me. Origamic architecture books are so difficult to find in the USA that I snapped this up immediately. Ms. Nakazawa has beautiful designs. Most are very simple to understand - I haven't tried the string activated ones, - yet. Origamic architecture is creating a 3D image from a single sheet of paper thru a series of cuts and either a fold towards you a away from you, those complicated origami folds aren't used, so don't let the name of the craft scare you off.
