Great mute for practicing.
The mute is great. Can't believe how well it works on my Geyer horn. The sound system is a little disappointing. It deals well with the attack of the note. You can tell the difference when you plug the mute to other things like your iphone. The reverbs are weak. Apps give better sound and sound effects but can get distorted at louder dynamics and it has trouble processing anything but light tounguing. The volume is the biggest deficiency on the sound system. So much that you are probably better off buying only the mute and using an app. You can barely hear yourself even with the volume all the the way up. Buy the mute. It's worth it. The mute is great. I have wanted a Silent Brass system for my horn for years...WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG?! For the past few years, I have lived in apartments and now a row home, and I never wanted to disturb those around me - treat others as you'd want to be treated, right??? With that, practicing my horn went down the drain as something I longed to do, but wouldn't... Finally during the COVID-19 self-distancing when my weekly community band was no longer gathering, I decided to splurge! And I am SO SO glad I did! For the past few weeks the mute has already brought me so much joy and has paid for itself through and through! The mute and Silent Brass system are both fantastic products! The physical mute fits snugly into my Holton bell, and I have no fear of it falling out. The foam suction around the mute ... I have wanted a Silent Brass system for my horn for years...WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG?! My only concern about the foam is that it will wear out over time...but at this point I have no complaints at all! The Silent Brass system honestly made me tear up the first time I used it, it is that realistic! For French horn, the system makes it sound as normal - like most of the instrument's noise would be coming from the right-hand side where the bell faces. I was blown away! Another feature that I really like is the option for selecting different acoustics for your "practice space:" Option 1 being a standard practice room and Option 2 being a performance hall. Whenever your confidence is feeling low, let me tell you...flip that system to Option 2, and you won't be disappointed! The acoustics sound incredible and exactly like it would if you were performing on stage! The only kind-of negative thing I can think to state about the product is that the headphones included with the product aren't my favorite, they're very hard plastic and don't fit to my ear comfortably. But you can plug any headphones into headphone-jack, so that works out just fine! If you're on the fence about purchasing...JUMP OVER THE FENCE AND DO IT!!! I would recommend this product to any horn player I know!!

Very nice to have if you live in an appartment or like to be silent.
Pros: -Yamaha Brass modeling is very nice to listen. Feels like i'm playing with no mute. -Can be use for recording and practicing without anyone hearing. -Personally I use them with my Audio-Technica ATH-M50x and I have no problem. -Mute feels good quality. There is a hole in it to let air throught so there is less resistance like a typical mute. (no sound come out of it.) -Very worth it. Cons: -The earphones that come with it feels super cheap. -Always need to use battery, cannot be plug in power. I use rechargeable AA batteries and it's fine. Best Mute!
If you play brass instrument and have to worry about disturbing housemates or neighbors this product is for you. The sound quality is incredible - as close to the real sound as you can get with a mute that I have ever seen! I love this for practicing at night without angering the neighbors!
