Synopsis
The year is 1635, and Mary Williams and her family live in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Her father, Roger, is on trial for preaching new ideas about freedom. When found guilty, he flees into the cold, telling Mary that she must trust in God's providence to see him to safety. Roger's only hope of survival lies with the Narragansett Indians. Will Mary ever see her father again?

    • Finding Providence by Avi

Beautiful illustration and well laid out. This is a book that a child can read and can also be appreciated by an adult with a very short investment in time. The greatest part of the book is that it is true and celebrates one of our nation's founders and the author of separation of Church and State, and freedom of conscience. Truly on of our nations greatest heroes and an example to all of us.

    • Great true story for elementary age

Great well written true story of my ancestor Roger Williams and his story of founding and naming Providence RI.
