    A shockingly good player for very little money with upgrades aplenty.WOW

    having owned several 63K1 versions i decided to try the 6000 limited edition with the exact same upgrade to the mains as i had carried out on the 63K1, and low and behold ended up with something very similar indeed,although their price range should have them poles apart.The 6000 was in beautiful condition when i bought it,[at a very reasnable price] from a local seller who had obviously looked after it in a smoke free enviorment. As soon as it was on my rack and rigged up to my Cyrus2 amp it sounded not too bad in comparison with the 63, only lacking a bit bass and being slightly smooth on tracks where a bit of bite was missing. So off comes the lid, mains cable removed from the pcb and a high grade audio iec fitted to the rear casing [no dangly bits here] and wired directly back to the ...

    The CD6000OSE meets my needs perfectly.

    This is a CD6000OSE, not the basic model. I am "deejay" for a couple of local big band societies. I use my own equipment for this and as the favoured medium is CD I wanted a reliable, good quality machine which will play a variety of discs well through a revealing all Mackie PA system. I now have two of this model, with back-up from a number of CD recorders from Pioneer and Marantz. I use them as transports linked by SP/DIF coax lead to an external (Musical Fidelity) DAC and the sound quality, particularly from my own CD-Rs is excellent, and is a factor for putting bums on seats at the clubs' recitals. This is a specialised area of course, but I can give a very strong recommendation to the Marantz CD6000OSE (and of course the KI model, which is usually much more expensive of course).

    A solid performer

    I had been thinking of buying a Marantz 63 Mkii KISignature, but when a 20 year old CD player goes for £180 at auction, I thought this was way too much for a simple revival of my den hifi system and lowered my sights. My CD6000 OSE came for £60 and without a remote and I have been very pleased. It weighs far more than expected, the tray action is the smoothest and quietest I have seen and in short it oozes quality. The sound it provides is excellent and although I am no hifi purist, it has made other parts of my system the weakest link, so new speakers are now on the shopping list. Performance on studio reference headphones is outstanding.
