About this product

Product Information

Emperor Caligula has two things on his mind: gladiatorial displays and gaining possession of the robe which fell from Jesus on the cross and is now in the hands of Demetrius (Victor Mature). Caligula and Messalina, young wife of the Emperor's uncle Claudius, work together to get the robe away from Demetrius, who ends up fighting as a gladiator. The epic sequel to the smash hit THE ROBE.

    Demetrius and the Gladiators DVD

    An awesome sequel, to The Robe, about a man and is faith. Demetrius is a free slave living in ancient Roman times, and he is a Christian. Demetrius is arrested and forced against his will to become a gladiator for the evil emperor Caligula. He remains true to his faith, but when he is striked with personal tragedy, his faith is put to the ultimate test. Thank you.

    A Sword and Sandal movie genre must have! Excellent buy for afficiandos!

    This is a wonderful, vintage movie available on DVD. It hails from the golden era of Hollywood, big budget, epic productions. If you love the genre of "sword and sandal" epics, you'll love "Demetrius and the Gladiators." The sets are truly wonderful and satisfying. The original music by composer Franz Waxman is outstanding. Costumes, though sometimes fanciful, are on the whole faithful to the historical era. This film was a sequel to "The Robe" and has some of the same actors as its predecessor: Jay Robbins as the mad Caligula and Victor Mature as the primary character, Demetrius. Other notable stars featured in D.&t.G. but not appearing in the Robe are: Susan Hayward, Michael Rennie, Ernest Borgnine, Anne Bancroft and Debra Paget.     Life in the Roman Empire

    First of all, I enjoy watching movies which were produced during the golden years of Hollywood. The actor Victor Mature is very good in expressing the emotions of the character he is portraying. The story of how life was during these times when the population was tortured for believing in God and freedom was just a desire but not a reality.
