Synopsis
Nazi Darkness Was Descending Upon Europe--Would Their Lives Ever Be the Same?Predating the events of The Zion Chronicles Series, Vienna Prelude opens in pre-World War II Austria. Elisa Lindheim, a violinist with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, is of Jewish heritage but has adopted an Aryan stage name. Thus she is able to travel and play in Germany even though a 935 law forbade Jewish musicians to do so. Her dear friend Leah, a cellist already introduced to Thoene readers in A Daughter of Zion, and her husband Shimon must escape Austria or perish in the coming Holocaust.John Murphy, a reporter for the New York Times in Berlin and Austria, becomes linked with English politicians in a plan to overthrow Hitler. Elisa and John's mutual connections with the Jewish Underground entangle them in a web of intrigue, danger, and conspiracy that neither could have known., Her own identity was safely disguised. But what about those she loved most. They would soon disappear with all the others unless.... Zion Covenant book 1., Elisa Lindheim, of Jewish heritage, and John Murphy, New York Times reporter, become entangled in a web of intrigue, danger, and conspiracy.

    • Vienna prelude

These are some of my very favorite writers and I have read many of there works. Vienna Prelude is the first book of this series. It share the high quality wordsmanship and wonderful historical background as all of the Thoene works. The pace is excellent as always but the story line and character development is just OK. The negatives I would site is it is a little "sappy". Somewhat like the Zion Covenant series (though not quite as bad), they seem to be bordering on "chick flick" status with slight over emphasis on the romantic aspect of the storyline. They always make the heroine seem slightly unreal. After they have broken three or four hearts of the poor suckers who are all madly in love with them they say "oh well" and go off into some incredible scene of intrigue and melodrama. I think ...

    • VIENNA PRELUDE IS A GREAT START!

Vienna Prelude was my first introduction to the writings of Brock and Bodie Thoene. If you like history and also are a Christian, then you must begin readng the Thoene's novels. This is the first novel in this series which is set during the WWII era. It follow the life of a young lady concert violinist with the Vienna Orchestra named Elisa Lindheim. Also, if you are a classical music lover, then it is a plus - but anyone can enjoy this book. I highly recommend that you visit the Thoene's web site to find out about the order to read their books. Currently I have read just aboout all their books up to the A.D. Chronicles, which I am just beginning. This is a great book in my opinion, but if you atart with this one, be prepared to continue reading with the others because it is a must!

    • Vienna Prelude

Bodie and Brock Thoene are my favorite historical fiction writers, and the Zion Covenant is my favorite series. Vienna Prelude is the first in a series of novels set in Europe during the time of Hitler. Although there are many characters, they are believable and easy to keep straight. I couldn't wait to start the next book - Prague Counterpoint. Although the books in the series can stand alone, I highly recommend reading them in order.

    • I’ve read the first book in the series and our club will be reading the second one in September

They’re all the kinds of books you can’t put down.

    • Awesome history series!

I left positive feedback already. I do not like your request to double down and ask for it again. Once is enough!
