This sequel to 2003's unusual (but successful) Def Jam Vendetta sends virtual versions of more than 40 real-life hip-hop stars to the Big Apple, where they'll do big-time wrestling styled battle for domination of the city's cultural underground. Recording artists such as Busta Rhymes, Carmen Electra, Lil' Kim, Ludacris, Method Man, Redman, Sean Paul, Slick Rick, Snoop Dogg, and many others step into the squared circles and back alleys to perform over-the-top fighting moves against wily rivals. The game's storyline once again involves rescuing a damsel in distress, this time from a mysterious villain known as "Sticky," and gameplay features more exploration and adventure elements than the original. There's still a lot of brawling to do, however, and the AKI Corp.-developed fighting engine from the original was revamped for this sequel.

The disc was packaged loose in the case- At first I thought maybe it was jostled during shipping, but after placing the game in the case correctly I tried bending it several ways to pop the disc out and it stayed put. Luckily there was no damage to the disc.

    Rap, Hip-Hop and Wrestling!!!

    Reviewed for Big Boss Games by: P.K. The Green It's nice when a company has faith in it's unique franchises. And with a company as big as E.A., you would have faith too. I'm talking about Def Jam: Fight for NY. Boasting some of the biggest names in both hip-hop fashion and talent (who lend their voices to the game) really adds to the authenticity of the culture the game portrays. The fighting engine is easily compared to the classic wrestling titles on the N64. This is a good thing, as some will say these are some of the best games of the genre. There are 5 fighting styles, which as you progress, allow mixing between them. With unlockable's including wrestlers, venues, and merchandise, there is plenty to keep you playing. Fans of fighters and hip-hop shouldn't miss this one. Score: ...

    Street Fight!!!

    Pros + Not just another wrestling game. + More immersive than the first. + Tons of recognizable celebrities you can either choose to be or beat down. Cons - It's all about the rappers but at least it's not about rapping. - Lots of button-mashing. - No online play. Comments Fight for NY continues the Def Jam series & gives your standard wrestling games a run for their money with it's trademark street style fighting mixed with wrestling. And you don't have to see grown men wearing spandex. Def Jam is also much faster paced than any other wrestling game out there & the finishing moves are amazing. Verdict Must play for any wrestling fan. Must have for any fan of fighting games.

    Guaranteed entertainment.

    The strikes and blows of this wrestling game are so exaggerated that they do not remind you of real violence, but in contrast, they guarantee good outbursts of laughter. You can use a virtual 'Henry Rollins' or a 'Snoop Dog' or even create and customize your own characters, buy them all kinds of clothes, hats and fancy jewels. It's, of course, not proper for little children. It can be used by one to four players. I consider it good, enjoyable and simple fun.
