Absolutely a rock classic. From track 4, on you have the transcendent Duane Allman. Clapton is a tunesmith but the precious tracks of Duane’s slide guitar, make this cd a must have for guitar lovers. Plus, “Layla,” you gotta have “Layla”, for goodness sakes. And “Little Wing”, omg !! I like my CD player in my car, I don’t want my phone interrupting my music !! If it’s a good song, we’ll talk later.

To anyone who is in the business of remastering rock and roll albums.... STOP TRYING TO MAKE THEM INTO DRUM AND BASS ALBUMS. Rock and Roll, classic rock, blues rock..all that- is not hip hop, its not drum and bass, its not jungle its not whatever homogeneous approach to mixing they taught you at Full Sail. Nobody, nobody listens to Derek and the Dominoes to hear the drums or skull busting bass. We want to hear Eric Clapton and Dwayne Allman. All the beautiful two guitar melodies, all the tender guitar solos, all that is stomped all over and ruined by the subatomic bass and the drums, you cant even hear it.....Why are the drums so loud???? And its not like you can just turn down the bass on the stereo because it reveals that there were no mids left. Noone is going to listen to this album in a car with a freaking bass cannon in the trunk and 1 inch tweeters on the windshield. Just stop doing this. This is a review of the 40th ann remaster. A lot of these remasters are like this. They totally destroyed Prince 1999. All that funky stuff in there??? GONE. Banging bass with subs that were never there? yep all that.Read full review

I named my son Derek after this release. Jackson Derek Gilley is now 19 years old. I gave him this CD copy as a gift. He and his mother never knew where and why I felt so strongly about this name. I am now a heavy black performer blues fan. Somehow Duane Allman still holds all the power that i felt about this release 40 years back when i first heard this album hit the airwaves. A complete album. Music being explored and played the way it should be as an art.
Simply one of the greatest albums ever produced. Clapton, Rsdle, Whitlock, D. Allman ; virtuoso musianship, harmonies, writing. Just hard to beat. Nothing like them.

Derek and the Domino's featuring the legendary Eric Clapton is one of the most defining rock groups of the era. Their signature song Layla is not only timeless but emotional!!
