This book is a great read! I'm reading it again before taking a Holland-America Panama Canal cruise in April 2018.

David McCullough has become one of Americas best selling historians. His biographies of Truman and Adams were best sellers with the John Adams work winning the Pulitzer Prize in history. This book, "The Path Between the Seas" was McCullough's first major work. It details the long and sometimes devastating efforts to build a canal through the Central American isthmus. Enormously detailed investigation went into the writing of this history and yet even though it is full of detail the writing grabs you, you are constantly asking yourself, "What will happen next?" as men try to overcome nature. I highly recommend "The Path Between the Seas" to anyone interested in the history of the latter half of the nineteenth century and the early part of the twentieth when mankind felt they were able and destined to remake the world to their own specifications. McCullough gives us a fantatic tale of bringing the Panama Canal from vision to completion.Read full review
The book's binding was coming apart. It's a good read but coming apart in my hands.
