    Great Book and general reference

    Simply a great book and general reference. Both the original 1996 edition updated 2003/2007 provide a comprehensive listing of the most collectible rods with over 1000 values in three levels of condition. The hobby collector or antique dealer can easily get a good idea of value to at least compare with prices realized on eBay. I found detailed B&W photos of many bamboo fly rods describing common defects to watch out for. The best part is how the author give tips on evaluating condition - the most important factor in determining worth and making smart purchases. Obviously not perfect, however it is a proven title written by a professional who has been around the tackle collecting scene for 35 years. Certainly belongs on the bookshelf of any serious antique fly rod collector.

    Antique and collectible fishing rods by Dan Homel

    Lots of history on rod making. There are quite a few pictures of different styles of rods. Tells about how to grade condition. There are some very close up photos showing detail.
