About this product

Product Information

The PlayStation's answer to the Pokmon series phenomenon from Nintendo, Digimon World lets you raise customized Digimon monsters, training them for battle against other Digimon found in Digimon World. Most Digimon originally called File Island home, but for some unknown reason over time they lost the ability to speak and now live a nomadic lifestyle.

It is your goal to roam the dangerous countryside with your trained Digimon battling other lost Digimon. A victorious battle permits them to return home to the abandoned File Island. The main one-player mode on Digimon World is where the mysterious story unfolds as you raise your immature Digimon. Digimon are dependant on you for happiness, food, and parental guidance to guide their behavior (similar to the popular Tamagotchi toy).

Digimon mature while "working out" in the training area and as you battle various Digimon in the surrounding areas. Your pet Digimon can compete against friends' Digimon in Battle Mode that provides an arena for head-to-head combat. A loss against a friend can provide plenty of initiative to return to the main mode to strengthen your Digimon, but you'll need one block of free space on the memory card to save your progress.

Great if your a fan of Digimon and the "Card Battling Genre"

Probably need to be die hard Digimon fan to get good mileage out of the game, however I really enjoyed it. The card battle system is fairly straight forward. Most of the battles consist of a rock paper scissors formula with varying degrees of effects and support skills. beyond that the presentation is good. Graphics for battle sequences are great for PS1 standards and are a commendable attempt at referencing source material. - Recommended mostly for fans of the card battling genre and Digimon

  • Reason for purchase.

I love this game. It is the most interactive monster raising game. Monster rancher happens to be my favorite series for raising creatures, but you cant go on awesome adventures like you can in this game. You also get to build a city by finding digimon and battling them most of the time. After you win a fight your character will ask the digimon if they want to come to the city. Some won't come till you have done certain things. But what I really enjoy most about this game is the way you raise your digimon effects how they digivolve. You can make them skinny, fat, in the middle, focus on few parameters or all of them. The way you feed them, train them, discipline them, praise them, let them use the restroom, make sure they don't get hurt or sick or to tired, it all effects the ...

  • Very Fun, Very Confusing, Very Endearing

I’d never recommend anyone pick this game up, yet at the same time I’ve played this game for hours and even completed the game more than once. Unless you’re a speed runner, this game is a time sinker. I can’t objectively say this game is good, but if you get attached, you get attached hard. I cried when my first game broke when I was 12 because I’d never see my andromon again, I was so attached to this game. It’s a very unique experience, and probably the most fun entry in the digimon World Series, although the future installments did refine and add quite a few features.

  • Good game

As much as it is my favorite game, whether it's worth the asking price for a 17 year old game that has no scarcity whatsoever is questionable. If you're curious about it however, go for it. It's a phenomenal game that engineered a lot more than it's given credit for and remains the master of some.

  • Digimon World (Sony PlayStation, 2000)

This game is one of the best games you could possibly play. It is very mysterious, leaving many things up to your decision and thus there are many things that are in the game to explore. I have played it since I was a kid and I have always been a fan of Digimon since I first watched it on T.V. There are still things that I haven't found as of yet and I still have yet to beat it because its so vast. I bought it because my old copy is getting too old or something because it freezes on the Playstation screen and in several parts of the game where it loads a new screen (it has the old black back, so PS2 has trouble reading it sometimes, but even when I tried it on PS it wouldn't cooperate more). Maybe it has too many scratches. Regardless of the physical condition of my game, this game is one ...
