Back to basics, and done really well.
Time was spend finding the right actors and good story lines. I'd rather have eight 'classic' episodes than 22 ho hum stories. I actually prefer Ethan Peck to Leonard Nimoy's Spock (sorry diehards). Anton Mount as captain Pike was brilliant casting. Those of us who got a bit jaded by the saturating of Star Trek shows over the years should cast off any doubts..this is how Star trek should be done.
