Midi as a technology isn't that difficult, however programming this floorboard can be a chore. I'm a software developer for a living, and I studied Electrical Engineering in college. I wrestled with this for quite a while before I actually understood not only how to program this thing, but what was happening when I did it. In the end, I worked it all out and ended up with a floorboard that controls my Eleven Rack the way I wanted it to. If I had some complaints - the expression pedals should have included a switch underneath them to activate and deactivate the pedal. Basically as it's designed, you have to use one of the numbered pedals to turn something like your Wah on and off, which is slightly inconvenient. Also, it would have been nice if there were some kind of indication about the midi pedal state that could be set - you know, like an "on/off" status light or something. In my case, I'm using several of the pedals to turn things like distortion, delay, and reverb on and off. It works, but you can't tell if they were last turned on or off, or if you missed the pedal when you tried to press it. (Yes, I know you can buy a third party Rom purpose built for some midi devices, but I wanted to use this as it is.) Overall, the build quality is much higher than I expected. It feels solid and well built. I opened mine up to see what it looked like inside. The switches may prove weak after a while, but the expression pedals are using a metered peice of mylar through an optical sensor - which means there's effectively nothing wearing down over time. As long as it remains relatively clean under there, it will probably work forever. While I would have prefered a solution that was directly made for my use and provided some more indications about what was on and off - for the price you can't beat this pedal. I suspect I'll have it for a lifetime, and my just add some of those things myself if I find myself bored some day. Read full review

THIS IS MY FIRST "MIDI" CONTROLLER OTHER THAN FOOT CONTROLLERS THAT COME WITH UNITS. I WAS UNSURE HOW IT WOULD WORK BECAUSE IT WAS NOT MADE BY THE PROCESSOR UNIT I HAD. BEHRENGER MAKES EXCELLENT PRODUCTS AND THIS IS NO EXCEPTION. HEAVY DUTY CHASIS AND SWITCHES ARE JUST THE OBVIOUS WHEN I OPENED THE BOX. I'M USING IT WITH AN AVID ELEVEN RACK BECAUSE THE AVID FOOT CONTROLLER WAS $400 OPPOSED TO THE $100 FOR THE BEHRENGER UNIT. IT DOES EVERYTHING I NEED IT TO DO AND MORE. IT CONTROLS EVERY PATCH CHANGE I CREATED AND EVEN THE PARAMETERS IN THE PATCHES SO I CAN CHANGE THE TONES INSIDE OF EACH ONE. I HAVEN'T EVEN SCRATCHED THE SURFACE OF WHAT THIS UNIT IS CAPABLE OF YET. THE EXPRESSION PEDALS FEEL AND WORK GREAT UNDER FOOT AND REDUCE THE NUMBER OF UNITS ON THE FLOOR. THEY'RE NOT AS GOOD AS SOME STAND ALONE WAHS OR VOLUME CONTROLS BUT ARE GOOD ENOUGH FOR MOST GIGS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE UNIT FROM A FINACIAL AND PLAYERS VIEW.Read full review

If you want to spend a ton of money, go get another MIDI controller. If you want to spend a reasonable amount of money, get a bulletproof product that does more than you'll ever need, get the FCB 1010. I have two of these things, one controls my AVID\Digidesign Eleven Rack, the other controls my bass rig with a Behringer Bass V-Amp Ro and Hartke LH-1000. Yes, programming it via the footswitches will be a righteous pain, but there are several free-to-inexpensive programming apps out there and you can even upgrade the chip for greater functionality. I chose both options and haven't looked back. The case is solid metal, the power supply is internal (No wall-wart, YAY!) and the footswitches are solid and tough. My only quibble is that the two control pedals on the left side are a little too easy to move for my taste, I like a fairly stiff pedal, but they are about the same as a Morley volume or wah pedal. Seriously, if that is the worst that can be said about this thing, it's pretty good. Forget a Ground Control or any of that stuff, just get the FCB1010 and be done with it.Read full review

What a great controller pedal, out of the box it spoke to my Roland GP100 effects rackmount effects processor. 10 channels of effects control at your beckon call, awesome and for $100 (used, like new) a working musician's price!

Pros - solid construction, can customize each pedal to control amp effects as desired. Cons - may not work with all midi interface adapters to your PC. When starting up my setup the foot controller displays an error if the midi adapter is connected to my PC. There is a work around but can make the unit tricky to program.
