I had an Panasonic bread maker before which lasted well for quite a few years. My new one is equally as good, if not better, and I. have already had some lovely bread made in it. It is simple to use and gives plenty of scope for different types of bread. Not tried them all as yet.

No doubt this is a great bread maker, but coming from our older SD-257 this new unit is larger, has fewer recipes in the book, lacks the Italian and Sandwich bread functions which I used frequently, the controls are less intuitive and the instructions are poor - the latter recipes list various numbers for different programs which are different for different models. Personally I find this is a step backwards and I’m a little disappointed so far, especially in regards to the lack of provided recipes. I’m handing out old machine down to a family member and will miss it.

Sure, you can get cheaper machines, but if your goal is to save money then carry on buying shop bread. If you want high quality, put the initial investment into a quality machine. There's not much better than this one. Cons: No viewing window; slightly larger machine then some.
