This really is a heavy duty chain breaker. When my cheaper one failed on closing a stiff link on my new bicycle chain, I got this one. It did the job with minimal effort and time. Great product, I would recommend it. A lot cheaper than paying for a branded one from Park Tools, as well. You obviously need to manually align it with the pin you want to move as there is no chain locator lugs but this should mean that it will cope with most chain sizes.

Firstly the up-to-8 speed chain breaker needed altering to get it to work properly. The centre rod is difficult to sit squarely on the link centre which is to be be pushed out. This appeared to be because there was too much movement between the rod and its guide. The guide needs to be screwed in close to the chain link. Secondly it may have been a design fault but it was found the centre rod was slightly bigger than the link centre to be removed! Hopefully just a one-off. A sturdy piece of kit.
