Very pretty speakers, Bose, but as hifi experts know that does not mean they are great.
Fit perfectly where I wanted to place them. Look good. High end is lacking detail but good with a db or two of gain. At the bottom end, nothing below 120hz so unless you're coupling with a sub, not going to satisfy anyone who wants bass. I added a monitor audio radius 360 inline as the sub, so sound is very nice. On a plus they are fairly loud. Mostly they look good and are small. Read the reviews before you buy, but if you want small then you're not going to get earth shaking bass. 12 inch cone equals good bass, never heard a mini driver that can do any better.Fit perfectly where I wanted to place them. Of course you should listen before you buy. The guy that set up the company, Bose, read spec, then bought, then decided what he bought was not life like, so he started to research and along came Bose. The largest manufacturer of component quality loudspeakers in the world. The 161 speaker is ideal as a rear or back ground music product. For sure, you can get better sound for less money, but NOT to do what these do. Put them in any spcae, certainly hostile, kitchen, public room, steamy, greasy location and they will just keep working. Yes, they don't go deep and they are not too loud, but they are designed to do what they do, so you can not really ask for more. Ihave a set in my kitchen and 1 in the diningroom, and with kettles boiling, fans, fanning, people talking, you can still hear ... Of course you should listen before you buy. They look great and function great as surround speakers. I wouldn't use them for a main speaker maybe in a bedroom, kitchen etc
