About this product

Product Information

Three masters of anime--Koji Morimoto, Tensai Okamuro, and Katsuhiro Otomo--collaborate on this trilogy of critically acclaimed, stunningly rendered tales of the fantastic. First, in "Magnetic Rose," the crew of a spacecraft answer a call for help only to find themselves trapped in a ship haunted by the ghostly memories of a dead opera star. Next, in "Stink Bomb," a chemical worker takes what he believes to be cold medicine, only to discover that it was, in fact, a deadly biological weapon. Finally, in "Cannon Fodder," the inhabitants of a grim and mysterious city exists only to create and assemble an endless supply of deadly weapons.

  • It's a Pretty Good Movie.

"Memories" is an omnibus of three short films that is collectively about 100 minutes long. "Magnetic Rose" is the first, and while it had some good design work and the animation was great, I felt this short got unnecessarily intense in the last act. "Stink Bomb" is the second, It also has some great animation (There is one shot with spacesuits in a tunnel which contains an incredibly live-action movie like glare effect), though I felt the short only really picked up in the second half with some very fantastic and energetic action sequences which contrast the rather scary atmosphere of the first half. "Cannon Fodder" is the last short, and I think it is definitely the best; I trust Otomo's directing to be very non-gripping, and really liked how the short's focus was simply seeing a day in ...

  • Perfectly sealed and intact

I was excited to finally receive the Memories DVD and dive into its three captivating sci-fi stories. While the plastic seal was a little dirty, it wasn't an issue as both the DVD case and disc were well-protected.
