This is a nostalgic buy for me Raqual Welch was one of my favorites and at the time of release the storyline was above average-unfortunately the special effects were not except for the earthquake, but the soundtrak did fit the movie vert well- It prortrayed survival of the fitest in its essense. Was glad to add it to my sci-fi classics collection as this was a popular movie when it first arrived!

I bought this movie a few weeks ago to see what all the hype was regarding this movie. After seeing it i was very much impresseed with its acting and all the characters in the movie especially the lead beauty Raquel Welch (loana) and her male counterpart tumak (John Richardson). While the story could have been more rich in its story line it made up by its lead beauty Raquel Welch and her performance in it. I also enjoyed its stunning primeval imagery and special effects used for that time. this movie is a good quality represenation of high end movie magic depicting one million years b.c. , a true science fiction classic worth making part of your collection.
This is the bomb! More of a love story than your typical "caveman movie" it is surprisingly good! Some of the creature effects were not the greatest though, even though done by the master; Harryhausen. For example, a giant tarantula?? This was a little far afield of dinosaur-land. We did get a kick out of the giant turtle, though. The fight scene between the Tricerotops & Rex was really good. We even found a little humour & some scenes that were genuinely touching, such as when Tumok helps the children get fruit from the tree. If you are a male with any remaining hormones whatsoever, it will be very hard not to focus on Raquel only & forget the rest. If she is'nt the hottest thing on the planet in her animal skin bikini, I don't know what is. We felt the Volcano really needed some lava though, as not nearly as exciting as it could have been. We also liked the differences between the tribes. There is one scence where Tumok walks for days though & encounters no dinosaurs whatsoever that we found odd. Although dinos & man never really coexisted, in this movie they do-so where did they all go? Very watchable & bound to hold your attention. The movie poster is great too, for all you poster collectors out there-it's one of the best of all time in our humble opinion. We give this a good, because it is surprisingly well done for the genre & does not insult your intelligence. Raquel is just icing on the cake if you happen to be male.Read full review
Raquel Welch... you know... back in the day when it was new there was NO WAY that my dad would have watched... let alone let me watch sexy Raquel. I watched it over the weekend with my grandson who loves the giant lizard, the dinosaurs as well as the story. I think it has a good lesson in it... lesson being that it sucks to be around mean people, and sometimes the peaceful people have to fight the mean people. Even then it don't work out for everyone because in this film, the volcano starts erupting and the earthquakes open the earth and most people fall in. In the end they all have to start over... and maybe they decide to work together instead of against each other.
Beautiful, young Raquel(s) Welch (in a sort of skimpy fur bikini outfit, yet)! Nothing else in the film matters. If she alone does not rev your engines, better have someone check your pulse! Dialogue is mostly nonexistent. It consists of vague grunts and guttural utterances. Hey, you have to cut these peeps some slack. They are cave dwellers. Shakespeare has not been born and the English language has not been invented yet. I reiterate: this does not matter. Hit the mute button. The only reason to watch the screen is the stunning, ravishing Raquel(s) Welch. This flic was made in the mid 1960s. Filmmakers were not employing computer graphics then. I think the FX stuff may be early Ray Harryhausen (not sure I spelled that correctly) stop action sequences. As primitive as the characters portrayed, it (dynamation) is not nearly as incompetent as Plan 9 from Outer Space. Should you buy this film? Absolutely! This is the venue that made Ms. Welch an A list star. She went on to make numerous films. To keep eBay censors from becoming rabid, I would like to mention one of them. Mother, Speed and Jugs. Bill Cosby, oddly enough, is Mother. Harvey Keitel is Speed. It does not take a tremendous amount of imagination to figure out who plays Jugs. Raquel is now in her seventies. She is still an amazingly attractive woman. Do not miss One Million Years BC!Read full review

Fun classic movie from the 60s. Raquel Welch is lovely in her iconic role and Harryhausen's stop-motion dinosaur effects still hold up well today.

I've always been a fan of classic monster or dinosaur movies ever since I was 6 years old. The first monster movie I saw was probably the "Golden Voyage of Sinbad". After watching that I decided to watch "Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger" and "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad". I found out later on that there were other classic monster movies such as "Jason and the Argonauts", "Clash of the Titans", "Mysterious Island", "The Valley of Gwangi", "One Million Years B.C.", "When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth", and many more. When I got older it seemed like all the new monster movies were CGI based which I completely hate. Personally the only monster or dinosaur movies I like are the stop-motion ones and CGI just seems like it's better off for kids but I think CGI even ruined the classic disney movies. I'm all about disney movies such as the lion king, aladdin, the little mermaid, tarzan, beauty and the beast, etc. and I dispise the fact that disney decided to make all their movies CGI nowadays just because it's cheaper to make and it's less time-consuming. Dispite all that's said the reason why I bought "one million years B.C." is because I am trying to watch all the classic monster movies that's ever made and hopefully I will succeed.Read full review

"One Million Years B.C" is spectacular film! Powerful theme of survival and romance between Richardson and Raquel Welch in a period of evolution. Brilliant work of Ray Harryhausen in visual qualities! Stunning photography in the Canary Islands. I was completely captured and enthralled by the simplicity of the story and genius filmwork from start to finish.
