Lens was very well packaged and arrived as described in good working order with little wear. Some ‘dust’ behind the front lens but doesn’t appear in photos. Only gripe was there was no mention of the missing plastic on the hood ring mount (research now tells me this is a common problem with these lenses) which means the hood I bought for it is a little loose and I’m worried it’ll fall off. Something I’ll need to remedy at a later date. Price was competitive for a lens of this type. Good seller.

    An oldie but a doodie

An oldie, but a goodie. Unless you're going to print pictures the size of a house, 12 megapixels is more than enough for everyday stuff. Easy to use, with a host of settings, plus 'point & shoot' capability with a single button press. Video capable as well. Lots of lens choice too, for the more experienced user. Ideal 1st 'serious' camera, or back up unit, this G2 is well worth a look.

  • Great camera offering control, flexibility, and versatility in a small box.

I bought the Panasonic because my compact camera is a Lumix and I like it but wanted better quality and more versatility and control. I chose the Micro 4/3 system because I could easily get an adaptor for my old 35mmm lenses which means I don't need to splash out for new ones. The electronic viewfinder works well with these old lenses since it boosts the image brightness to compensate for the closed aperture which dims the image in an optical finder. I also liked the HD video facility which hopefully means I can use this as a single camera on holiday to replace the two I currently carry - thus compensating for the greater size/weight. The manual is terrible - typical Japanese into English tour of the controls. But the excellent "Quintesesential Guide" book more than makes up for it. I ...

  • A bargain if you want to learn about some creative photography.

This camera is a very good to handle as its smaller then a digital SLR cameras from Canon/Nikon. The fleaxbility of using any of the old 35mm SLR lens via an adaptor makes the LUMIX range even more attractive to have. I have just bought a Canon FD mount lens (50mm F1.4) which I intend to use for portraits. Please bear in mind that the old lens will not have the electronics so will have to be used in manual or aperture modes. The camera controls are very easy to access. I still have not got used to the touch screen, and use the camera via the electronic view finder rather then the back screen. A bargain if you want to learn about some creative photography. G2 also has a fully auto mode which will take great photos.

  • Good entry camera, good features, light and easy to use, yet fully manual!

Good camera, good features, light and well designed, nice to hold and nice to use. IA is very very good, and all the other features allow you to take proper control with some High end DSLR elements such as ISO capping. EVF and LCD are both execellent. Use it as an entry camera for my young son to get into photography which is is brilliant for. Dynamic range isn't good and metering can be a little off. But it is a 4/3rds sensor. colour is very good. For the value these are around for now it is 100% but for very image serious photographers looking for true dynamic range and depth go APS-C.

  • Mostly only "Good" to say about the Lumix G2 - but...................................

I have bught several Lumix-Gs on eBay. --- The G2 is the best of the early models - with a much better control layout than the G1, G3 or even G5 (there is no G4 model!). The viewfinder is great - making the use of legacy manual focus lenses easy. It is much better than the similar era G10 "economy" model. Battery life, exposure control and focus speed are all excellent. All 3 I have bought have proved to have durable build - despite being a decade old. --- The only problem is the low exposure range achieved by these early generation M4/3 sensors - which are limited to about 5-practical stops range - with another 3 of highlight or lowlight characterised by electronic "noise". If you can live with this (and this does limit a lot of shooting) then these are excellent cameras.
