You really can't beat this lens for the money. I saw this lens offered on Amazon for $500 and found it on eBay for about $200. I mean, what kind of new lens do you get for that price? So, I was not expecting much, particularly since I read some mixed reviews. I have not had this lens for long and I have not had the chance to really put it through its paces, but I am very happy with it so far. It's not perfect, but what lens ever is? Naturally, it's made out of plastic and it operates that way. You can feel the parts rubbing together when you are zooming with it, so it's not exactly smooth. Still, it works well. I also find it to be a bit on the heavy side, although I do have lenses that are heavier. There is also a bit of vignetting when the lens is in wide angle, but it's not terrible if there is sufficient light available. Again, this was a $200 18-250 zoom lens, so one should not expect perfection at that price. It's still a great buy and I would have even purchased it from Amazon for $500, if the $200 eBay deal had not been available. On the positive side, the lens creates very good photos. I don't think I would recommend it for a professional, but for those of us who are no longer in the photography business or amateur photographers who want good results at a reasonable price, this is definitely a lens to have at your disposal. I find that it's best for outside use where there is lots of light, but it will work in lower lighting situations as well, so there is no need to change lenses just because you are going from outside to inside in the same shoot. However, if you are going to just be shooting inside, then I would suggest using a different lens or a flash. My camera came with a great 18-135 zoom lens that works super well indoors, so I use that lens for inside work. However, this is the lens that I keep on the camera most of the time. While I can't quite give it five stars, it's still a solid four-star lens and I would definitely recommend it to anyone on a budget.Read full review

The description of the lens was wrong. It will not work with a DX Nikon Camera without a Lens fireware ware update. If you send the lens into Sigma for a fireware update it should work fine with your Nikon Camera.

I bought this as a graduation gift. I already have one of these lenses and it is my favorite all around lens. It takes sharp photos and is a great lens for vacations, hiking or everyday use where you wouldn't want to carry a lot of equipment around. I would highly suggest buying this kit. All the exrtas are bacicly free because the lens it's self sells for more then the kit. This lens is very versatile it's great for beginners all the way to experts.

Great lens. The range is good, which makes this a great walk around lens. As a photographer, its a great choice for outdoor shooting in case you don't want to carry a bunch of lenses around. While at the long end, 250mm, you will need to adjust your f-stop or ISO--the picture quality is pretty good. You cannot go wrong with this type of lens.

The Sigma 18-250 has turned out to be the all in one lens. It covers a huge focal range from macro to telephoto which is great for an every day lens. It is a bit heavy but still has a nice balance. I am very happy with the performance overall. I would highly recommend this lens to add to your arsenal. Great lens for the price. You will soon find that it will be your go to lens.

You’ll find a number of Sigma travel zoom lenses offered online. This is a fine lens. But it’s important to ensure it is compatible with your camera, as it may need a firmware update from Sigma to function correctly. I’m happy with this lens, and it works with my Nikon DSLR.

I wanted a "do-all" lens for my next trip that I could just put on my camera and go, without toting a bag full of lenses. And I wanted a decent one, at a reasonable price. The Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM, which I received 2 weeks ago and have tried out in several situation, appears to fit the bill nicely. For my purposes sharpness is acceptable and autofocus works nicely. It feels well built and tight enough that when I hang it down from the camera the lens doesn't creep/move out. Excellent lens for the money.

Love this lens. Great for indoor photos with no flash and for outdoors. Great walking around lens, stays on my camera most of the time.

Nice lens! If you want sharper or faster pay four times as much for a Nikon - very good overall. My second Sigma lens which I am very happy with. Sigma is high quality, my Nikon lenses which came with my "kit" are okay but very cheap mounts. I think the better companies have figured out how to make good glass. Can confuse the lens in low light in which the flash doesn't work right but resets and works okay. Would put this on any camera.

This is a great all around lens. If you decide to go with a one lens set up, in my opinion this is it. I tried the Tamron 18-270 and while it took OK photos, it felt a bit cheesy. Then I tried the Nikon 18-200. Great lens, sharp images but really heavy and no macro focusing. The Sigma is light, has great range, seems well made and the macro capabilities are fantastic!
