Umschlaggestaltung von Rainer Richter unter Verwendung einer Portratzeichnung von Josefine Weinschrott. Gesetzt aus der Minion Pro, 11 pt. Henricus - Edition Deutsche Klassik GmbH UEber den Autor: 1820 in Amsterdam als Sohn eines Kapitans geboren, fahrt der 18-jahrige Eduard Douwes Dekker mit seinem Vater nach Java und findet in der Kolonialverwaltung eine Anstellung. Als er 1856 die dortige Korruption anprangert, endet seine Beamtenkarriere abrupt und er kehrt nach Europa zuruck. Unter dem Pseudonym Multatuli (lat.: Vieles habe ich ertragen) veroeffentlicht er kritische Bucher gegen Religion und Kirche und eine skandaloese Kolonialpolitik. Am 19. Februar 1887 stirbt Eduard Douwes Dekker in seiner Wahlheimat am Rhein in seinem Haus in Ingelheim.
