The new Star Wars battlefront 2 uses the proven favorite pay-to-win system. No hunt mode, most features aren’t local co-op, but I’m here to talk about the original. This game is from a less greedy time and seems to use the philosophy that if your company makes large, group play, and most importantly fun games, costumers will keep coming back. This doesn’t work if one game is WAY better than the rest, in this case not just of the series but the genre entirely. This game is very much limited by the hardware, but you can’t feel it. Space battles feel truly epic, galactic conquest feels like a soldier bulging an empire, and hunt makes for hilarious couch conversation. So I won’t be coming back to this company I’ll be coming back to THIS game. If you want to be a wampa fending off an entire rebel force or fighting as and alongside the Ewoks of Endor, ‘‘tis will play out a lot more smoothly than you’d expect.Read full review

The game works occasionally. After playing 5-10 minutes, the game crashes due to the scratches on the disk and stops gameplay until reset. Not the product I was aiming to buy.

I bought the first Battlefront almost two years ago and loved the rich graphics, pumping music score, ease of play and multitude of options. I soon mastered each battlefield. Battlefront II offers a much of the same attributes. There are land battles on Tatooine, Geonosis and Kashyyk, for example that feel a lot like the scenarios from the original game. Some new landscapes like the Death Star, Leia's blockade runner and Coruscant add breadth of landscapes. One really fun aspect of the land battles is fighting as a Jedi or Sith Lord. Once you get your mojo as a regular soldier, you'll be interrupted with the option of transfering to a really badass character, who with the sweep of a lightsaber can clean up scores of the enemy. This is great fun. The campaign game includes space combat, usually prior to any land actions. Again, the graphics are rich and vibrant. But having previously played the Jedi Starfighter series, I feel that this element of Battlefron lacks playability. Down is up, Left is right, etc. As an older gamer, I found this very disorienting. I don't really aim to learn how to fly a starship, I just want to blow off steam, shoot stuff and enjoy the pyrotechnics. I grew frustrated with the space combat sequences and will probably avoid the campaign games because of it. Still, LucasArts has never really failed to bring me great entertainment. I probably own all the StarWars games, in part because I love the genre but also because the games push the envelope in terms of innovation and richness. If you like Star Wars at all, this is worth the money. If you like first person shooters, don't hesitate. If your looking for great air/space combat, you probably can do better.Read full review
This is one of the better star wars games that have been released. The fact that you get to be a soldier on the frontlines, making a difference in combat, is a phenomenal idea versus other games where you're some super soldier designed to obliterate the enemy. In this one, when you die, you come back and resume the fight. When you do want to mash faces, you have the chance to play as heroes/jedi, which is a fun break from normal combat. I find both experiences to be enjoyable, but I'm glad this game focuses on you being a normal soldier. The different soldier classes present you with opportunities to contribute on the battlefield in different ways- I like this because it suits multiple playstyles. Plus, you can switch which class you want to be in the middle of a game, so you can easily react to your opponent's tactics. This is a great game to play when you have just a few minutes of spare time or if you feel like blowing away a whole evening. Don't expect much in way of a storyline or campaign- just enjoy the game for it's frantic combat.Read full review
Pros + You can play as heroes now. That means I get to be Darth Maul!!! + Lots of vehicles. + Space battles!!! Cons - Almost too much chaos & bots do a lot of the work. - No real sense of playing people online because there are so many bots. - Can't choose your hero. - Vehicles don't control as well as the 'Rogue Squadron' series. Comments Graphics are great and battles feel huge. You only seem to be a tiny part of the machine until you get into a hero's shoes. Then you are unstoppable, almost. Fun to play with a friend as well online or off. Verdict Must have for Star Wars fans. Must play for anyone who liked the first. This one is much better.
